Technology Commercialization Funds (LSCF) Home

LSCF's Purpose and Focus
With the intent of supporting promising life science technologies developed at Rutgers, J&J and Rutgers via a grant from the New Jersey Commission on Science and Technology have created a $200,000 commercialization fund. The purpose of the Life Sciences Commercialization Fund (LSCF) is to identify technologies with a clear path to commercialization and provide them with funding to advance the commercialization process. The fund will be looking at potential pharmaceuticals, diagnostic tools, or medical devices with therapeutic applications.

On the pharmaceutical side, there will be strong preference to support compounds that are ready for clinical testing. On the medical device side there will be strong preference to support technologies that are past proof-of-concept and are ready for prototyping and testing.

To be eligible for consideration, the underlying technology for the proposed project has to be disclosed to OTC through a fully-completed invention disclosure form.

LSCF's Souces of funds
J&J has contributed $100,000 to the fund and Rutgers, using a recent grant provided by NJCST, will also contribute $100,000.

LSCF will provide funding that can be applied solely to direct costs of advancing a particular technology and its commercialization. Technologies and commercialization opportunities will be assessed by OTC personnel as well as by a group of outside advisors including a J&J representative. It is the general intent of LSCF to provide between $30,000 to $50,000 per project.
